Question:
Do Christians realize that Homosexuals may be BORN "That way"?

Two American activists recently published studies showing that if one of a pair of identical twins is homosexual, the other member of the pair will be, too, in just under 50% of the cases.

I can at least confirm that homosexuals do not simply wake up one fine morning and say, "What a LOVELY day to be gay! I think I will be gay this week!"

Wouldn't it be sad if "God" threw them into hell for something they themselves can't change?

The fact that twins have a high incidence of sharing a particular trait doesn't necessitate any genetic cause. A trait that is caused by the conditions under which a person is raised is likely to be present in both twins since they were presumably raised by the same parents under the same conditions. There is absolutely no evidence to suggest that homosexuality - or heterosexuality - is hereditary, in spite of many studies aimed at discovering such a link. Sexuality is acquired through early childhood experiences with adults of both sexes. If homosexuality was hereditary it would quickly become non-existent, or at least extremey rare, since those who have the disorder rarely procreate, and genes that are not passed on tend to be removed from the gene pool.

As for going to hell over something they cannot change, the Christian Church does not teach that having a homosexual orientation damns a person. It is only the intentional commission of acts forbidden by the law of God that condemns a person. And behavior can always be changed and controlled.

Do you realize that some alcoholics may be born that way?

Do you realize that some abusers may be born that way?

Do you realize that some pedophiles may be born that way?

They did not just wake up some day and say "I thing I will be a drunk, a wife beater or a pervert this week!" So of course that excuses them from an moral responsibility for their actions or desires. We need to let all the child molesting priest out of prison, because "they were born that way".

Even if a person is with a desire that does not give them the right to act on it. Wrong is still wrong, regardless if it is based in genetics, decisions, sickness or anything else.

And while they may not be able to change themselves, God can.

Well I haven't seen those studies, but I do know that there have been many observed homosexual activities between other animals. When people start realizing that we too are animals and not some super-being who are expected to be infallible, I think and hope that this will not be such a hot topic. Until then, I say born that way or choose that lifestyle, it is the individuals' life so let them live it.

Homosexuality is not an especially terribly sin in the eyes of God- not the way that it is in the eyes of many Americans. Yes, the Bible calls some homosexual behaviors 'abominations', but it also calls eating certain shellfish, lying, adultery, and working on the Sabbath abominations as well.

We are born with the ability, and even the tendency to lie, but God expects us to choose to not lie. Humans are not born to be monogamous, but God expects us to choose to behave that way.

Even if homosexuals are born that way, acting on it is a choice.

This ignores the entire issue of whether or not it is a sin as we think about it now.

Would it be just or loving to condemn a person for doing something that you yourself planned for him to be?

Homosexuality is not an alternative life-style acceptable to God. Frequently, both gay and liberal preachers twist the scriptures in futile endeavors to make it seem that it is. (2 Peter 3:16) Thousands of years ago Jehovah destroyed Sodom because most of the males of that city practiced it. Centuries later the apostle Peter likened men who copied those Sodomites to “unreasoning animals born naturally to be caught and destroyed.” .

In unmistakable language, both male homosexuality and lesbianism are condemned by the inspired apostle Paul: “God gave them up to disgraceful sexual appetites, for both their females changed the natural use of themselves into one contrary to nature; and likewise even the males left the natural use of the female and became violently inflamed in their lust toward one another, males with males, working what is obscene and receiving in themselves the full recompense, which was due for their error.” Romans 1:26, 27.

Paul specifically mentioned those who evidently take on a passive sexual role and those who assume a more active “male” role in their immoral relations. Thus he made it plain that God disapproves of all homosexual acts.

Paul is saying that anyone that is "homosexual, or & adulterers, nor effeminate "having unsuitable feminine qualities" nor abusers" so he is not just referring to homosexuals but to all above, these cannot be approved of God or receive any blessings from the Kingdom that Jesus talked about when he was on the earth.

I just answered this on a Previous Question that I answered.

Human Beings get Messed Up when they Enter the Earth, some more than Others.

Some are male, some are female some are messed up in that area.

All can make it back to Heaven.

Hope this helps.

GOD wants all Human Beings, no matter what, back in Heaven.

I know many homosexual who hate being that way. Most people are not aware of the fact that there are many homosexuals who want out of the lifestyle. TV has convinced many that homosexuals are better off coming out of the closet. However, it never tells you about the forty year old man who leaves his wife, and looses contact with his children and the regrets it the rest of his life.

Ok, if God had people 'born" gay, then he wouldn't have destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for something He did, think about it. Read your Bible honey, your ignorance is showing. Oh, if a gay person, repents and gives up the gay lifestyle and trusts in Jesus and is saved, then they will go to Heaven.

I heard that same sex siblings have a higher chance as well. I don't see anything wrong with it. I think you're talking about fundamentalists :)

Besides, it's generally not an easy lifestyle choice, so I don't see why anybody would really make it a conscious decision.

Which activists? What are your sources?

I'm straight, and not good enough for American women. I had to find women who wanted to have me in Europe...does this make me a America-phobisexual?

Oh, and, leave the slanted "God" references out of your supposed

"question."

Part of it is how your raised also.

You either go with what your parents raised you to be, or you veer off and do something else. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad, sometimes, just indifferent. o _o;

I really shy away from saying it's genetic, or "you're born that way". If it really was that way, there's not a whole lot saying it's a "genetic defect"...

It is not homosexuals but the homosexual sex act that is a problem and well you know it.

And why do gay people have to be so in your face gay with all the mannerisms and gestures? Had you considered how confronting some people find militant gay people?
2007-02-15 19:49:07 UTC
There is some evidence to indicate SOME (not all) are born that way.

The ones who adopt it to get gratification, however, are a seriously problematic entity.

Some Christians do.

Fundamentalist Christians, however, have it stuck in their thick, narrow-minded skulls that if you go against their beliefs, you're some how a sinner. Quite preposterous, really.

Unless the guy below me was just kidding, I will ask him: When did you choose to be straight?

YOU ARE NOT BORN GAY....... I really wish people would stop saying you are gay because you are born that way..... That is so far from the truth.... Get a real life and see the fact's. A person chooses to be gay...
